Policies and Guidelines for Riders
Antigonish Community Transit Society (ACTS) is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for passengers and employees. Passengers are required to refrain from the use of offensive or aggressive language and behavior. Should a passenger demonstrate this behavior, the operator has the right to ask the passenger to leave or refuse entrance to the bus. Furthermore, offenders can be barred from using Antigonish Community Transit services under the provisions of the Nova Scotia Protection of Property Act, Chapter 363, of the Revised Statutes (1989).

Passengers using audio/video equipment are asked to use earphones at low volume also passengers using a cell phone are asked to speak with a low voice.
If the bus is crowded with a standing load, passengers are asked to move to the back to make room for more passengers.
Passengers are also asked to reserve the courtesy seats for elderly and disabled passengers.
Smoking is prohibited inside transit shelters, and on all transit buses. The use of E-Cigarettes is also prohibited inside transit shelters and on all transit buses.
Passengers are required to wear a top, bottoms and footwear while riding on Antigonish Community Transit buses.
Some passengers are scent sensitive and may suffer from allergies to scented products. Please avoid wearing strongly scented products on board transit buses. This policy applies to passengers and employees.
Passengers are cautioned when descending from a transit bus not to step out from in front of the bus without checking for oncoming traffic.
Passengers who require the support of a service animal are permitted to bring their service animal into all Antigonish Community Transit shelters and on all vehicles. Otherwise, pets are not allowed on Antigonish Community Transit vehicles.
Be sure you hold onto the seat or ceiling rails while standing or walking to your seat and never extend any part of your body outside the bus windows.
Rear exit doors are designed to make loading and unloading faster and more convenient. Please use them whenever possible.
Alcohol consumption is prohibited on all transit buses.
Baby strollers must be collapsed before boarding and kept clear of the aisle and stepwells. Keeping a child in the stroller on the vehicle is not permitted.
